Player thieving is straightforward but challenging to succeed in. Select a player at your location from the "Players at this location" list and click "Thief player." The result is immediate, with success earning you a random amount of gold. The more money the target has, the higher your potential earnings. The target remains unaware of the attempt, and you can choose to try again. A successful attempt rewards you with 20 EXP. If unsuccessful, you will be captured and jailed, with the time determined by your thieving level compared to the target's level, even failed attempts yield 5 EXP.
Lockpicking is a crucial aspect of thieving, involving opening locked items with different level requirements. Each locked item provides varying experience points. Lockpicks are needed to open these items. Equip a lockpick, click on the locked container in your inventory, and, once the timer counts down, an unlocked version appears.
The Thieving Guild, situated on Mezno Island in the town of Mentan, offers special thieving jobs for guild members. Complete tasks within a time limit to gain gold and thieving experience. Your target's last known location is provided, and success or failure doesn't matter; scaring them is enough. Return to the guild to collect your reward.
Periodically, mysterious chests appear with combination locks. Players get one guess every 20 seconds, earning experience for each failed attempt. Successfully guessing the combination and opening the lock reveals the contents within.
Upon reaching level 10, players can venture into shop thieving. Visit a shop where each item has a steal option. The success chance is inversely proportional to the item's price. The higher the price, the lower the success probability. Although there's always a chance of success, it may be minimal for high-priced items. Successful attempts allow you to take the item with an option to return to the shop. Similar to player thieving, shop owners are unaware of successful thefts. Failed attempts result in capture and jail time. The time spent in jail is determined by the value of the attempted theft, with each gold piece increasing jail time by 25 seconds. For example, a 10-gold piece item results in a 250-second jail time.
Additionally, players can attempt to steal gold from a shop, which is riskier but offers greater rewards. Click the button at the top of the shop window to steal gold. Successful attempts let you take gold stored in the shop, earning 30 EXP. The shop owner remains unaware of the attempt. However, failure leads to variable jail time based on the amount of gold in the shop. Players receive a warning, and attempting to steal gold still grants 5 EXP.
